How does SneakPeek® work?
SneakPeek® utilizes the natural process of shared fetal DNA circulating inside the mother’s bloodstream. From the small sample of blood you supply via a finger stick we are able to test for the presence of male DNA. If it is detected then the baby’s gender is male and if it is not detected then the baby’s gender is female.
How early in my pregnancy can I test for my baby’s gender?
You are test ready at 9 weeks pregnant.
How do I calculate when I can take the test?
You are test ready at 9 weeks after the first day of your Last Menstrual Period (LMP) or 31 weeks before your Estimated Due Date (EDD).
Can I use SneakPeek® if I am not 9 weeks into pregnancy?
No, do not take the SneakPeek® test until you are at least 9 weeks pregnant. We will not process any sample that does not meet our minimum threshold of gestational age. Our test ready threshold is 9 weeks after the first day of your Last Menstrual Period (LMP) or 31 weeks before your Estimated Due Date (EDD).
Do you test my blood for gestational age?
No, we do not test blood for gestational age. The information you provide on your signed Consent Form acknowledges that you have provided an accurate Last Menstrual Period (LMP) or Estimated Due Date (EDD) that will be used to measure how many weeks into pregnancy you are.
What is the accuracy of SneakPeek® Early Gender Test?
SneakPeek® is >99% accurate based on controlled laboratory testing.
In controlled laboratory tests, SneakPeek® detected shared male fetal DNA in >99% of blood samples from pregnant women carrying male fetuses at 9 weeks gestational age and later into pregnancy. Male fetal DNA was not detected in blood samples from pregnant women carrying female fetuses.
In a blinded multi-center study performed in 2015 with samples collected at four clinics, SneakPeek® showed an accuracy rate of 100% for fetal sex identification. The results of this study may be reviewed here.
In at-home testing, a validation study presented at the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) Conference showed that SneakPeek® Early Gender Test is highly accurate at determining baby gender as early as 9 weeks into pregnancy. The data from the validation study showed 98% accuracy, the results may be reviewed here.
Our mission is to provide a convenient, affordable at-home gender test. There are limitations to at-home sample collection that can affect test results. For instance, the laboratory process may result in errors if the sample does not contain a sufficient amount of fetal DNA, the sample is collected too early in the pregnancy (e.g., earlier than 9 weeks pregnant), the DNA in the sample is degraded, or the sample becomes contaminated by environmental, handling, or other sources of male DNA that may affect test results. It is important to collect the sample according to the instructions and procedures provided with the SneakPeek® Early Gender Test. Failure to follow the instructions and procedures provided with the SneakPeek® Early Gender Test may produce a false positive or false negative result.
Gateway Genomics offers a 100% refund to customers whose test results do not match the gender of their newborn baby. Our refund policy is available here.
SneakPeek® is not intended to diagnose any disease or medical condition. SneakPeek® was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by Gateway Genomics, LLC. SneakPeek® has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
How is the sample taken?
By using a simple finger stick to obtain a small amount of blood.
Can I use SneakPeek® if I am having a multiple birth pregnancy?
Yes you can. If we detect the presence of male DNA then we can confirm at least one of the babies is male. If we do not detect male DNA then we can confirm you are only having female babies.

What is the accuracy of SneakPeek® before 9 weeks?

Can I contaminate my sample?
Yes you can. For this reason it is important to follow the instructions thoroughly for SneakPeek®, as we cannot control for any contamination during the collection of your sample. Contamination of your sample with male DNA will yield a false positive result.
How do I prevent contamination?
In order to prevent contamination of your sample by male DNA you should carefully follow all instructions and take the test in a male free environment. Sanitize the surface you are collecting your sample on. Make sure to thoroughly sterilize your hands and focus on scrubbing your fingertips and under your nails. Rinse hands thoroughly and allow them to air dry. Do not use a towel or touch anything. Do not allow any male to open your test box or touch any of the contents inside before, during, or after sample collection. Do not allow a male to help you in any way to collect your sample.
Will a miscarriage affect my test results?
A miscarriage that has occurred more than 3 months prior to taking the test has no effect on the accuracy of our test.
Will a previous pregnancy carrying a male affect my test result?
