Clinical studies have shown that fetal DNA is undetectable in mom’s bloodstream between 1 to 2 days after birth. Therefore, a previous male-bearing pregnancy will not affect your current test results.

However, these are also viable alternate ways to return your sample:

SneakPeek cannot confirm pregnancy. The test looks for male chromosomes in the fetal DNA found in mom's blood. If there is no fetal DNA in mom's blood, the test will return a girl result, because mom is a girl. On the off-chance that the test is contaminated with outside male DNA (even pets!), it may return a boy result. Please confirm pregnancy with your doctor prior to taking SneakPeek.

Doctors estimate due dates using various methods. One common approach is an ultrasound scan between weeks 6 and 8 of pregnancy, measuring the baby's growth to estimate gestational age. For those undergoing IVF treatments, the embryo transfer date is crucial. Specifically, a 3-day embryo transfer adds 263 days, while a 5-day transfer adds 261 days to calculate the due date.

If no blood is collected, it may be that there wasn't a complete seal with the skin when the blue button was pushed, or the blue button wasn't pushed down far enough, until a "click" was heard. Please try again, holding the device firmly and directly on the skin, and pushing the blue button all the way down to the device casing, until a "click" is heard. If it doesn't work a second time, please let us know, and we'll send you a replacement device.

If your blood is not moving freely enough to coat the test tube in order to mix with the preservative, try tapping the test tube, lid side down, firmly on a flat surface to generate blood movement. Then shake the tube lightly for 20 seconds or until blood coats the tube. If blood is still not moving freely, repeat the tapping with lid side down step, as well as the 20s shaking step, as many times as needed until blood coats the tube.

With the additional $69 lab fee required for in-store purchases, it’s priced the same as on the SneakPeek website, which doesn’t charge a lab fee. 
First, we assure you this doesn't mean anything is wrong! We may just need a second look. When we send an inconclusive sample update email, it's because our team wasn't able to pull enough total DNA from your first vial to tell. We always have two SneakPeek lab technicians process samples, so we'll only ask for a retest if we're 100% sure the first vial didn't yeild enough total DNA info to tell one way or the other.   Here are some reasons we may not have been able to pull enough total DNA to confirm a boy or girl result with the first try:
  • The sample may have clotted (some clotting is normal, though a bit of extra clotting throughout the vial may make it tricky for us to separate the DNA to analyze fully).
  • Our 30 day preservative solution may not have distributed enough to get into all of the nooks and crannies in your vial after closing the tube up and mixing (for any sample, the best way to mix after shutting the tube fully is by rotating the sample gently starting from all the way upside down to all the way right-side up ten times).
  • The sample may have had a slightly lower volume (If you collected a volume smaller than the 500μl we ask for, please still send this in! Most smaller samples are still successfully processed).
  • There may have been a very small amount of contamination during collection and we want a second peek for accuracy. Us having confidence in your result is just as important to us as it is to you!
  • By chance, your sample may have just not gotten to us with enough total DNA! This happens every once in awhile with a collection and a retest almost always does the trick.
If you do end up recollecting, please follow the same collection method, using the instructions included with your test. We're just as full of anticipation to let you know your result, so your new sample will be at the front of our processing queue the day it's delivered to us!  

Based on research studies, tattoos have not been shown to affect blood sample results or the ability to successfully collect a blood sample with SneakPeek Snap. Using SneakPeek Snap will also not affect your tattoo!

SneakPeek cannot confirm pregnancy. The test looks for male chromosomes in the fetal DNA found in mom's blood. If there is no fetal DNA in mom's blood, the test will return a girl result, because mom is a girl. On the off-chance that the test is contaminated with outside male DNA (even pets!), it may return a boy result. Please confirm pregnancy with your doctor prior to taking SneakPeek.

Is the test safe?
The SneakPeek Early Gender DNA Test is a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), and it's safe for both mom and baby.
I’m having twins. Can SneakPeek determine the gender of each one?
SneakPeek looks for male DNA in the fetal DNA found in mom's blood sample. In the case of identical twins, if male DNA is found, then both babies are boys. If no male DNA is found, then both babies are girls. For fraternal twins, finding male DNA means at least one baby is a boy, but cannot distinguish if the second is a boy or girl.

What are other ways doctors can determine my due date?
Doctors estimate due dates using various methods. One common approach is an ultrasound scan between weeks 6 and 8 of pregnancy, measuring the baby's growth to estimate gestational age. For those undergoing IVF treatments, the embryo transfer date is crucial. Specifically, a 3-day embryo transfer adds 263 days, while a 5-day transfer adds 261 days to calculate the due date.

What do I do if no blood at all is collected with SneakPeek Snap?

If no blood is collected, it may be that there wasn't a complete seal with the skin when the blue button was pushed, or the blue button wasn't pushed down far enough, until a "click" was heard. Please try again, holding the device firmly and directly on the skin, and pushing the blue button all the way down to the device casing, until a "click" is heard. If it doesn't work a second time, please let us know, and we'll send you a replacement device.

What do I do if the blood sample does not coat the test tube and mix with the preservative?

If your blood is not moving freely enough to coat the test tube in order to mix with the preservative, try tapping the test tube, lid side down, firmly on a flat surface to generate blood movement. Then shake the tube lightly for 20 seconds or until blood coats the tube. If blood is still not moving freely, repeat the tapping with lid side down step, as well as the 20s shaking step, as many times as needed until blood coats the tube.

What email address should I provide during checkout?

What if my sample results are inconclusive?

We've got you! Because inconclusive results can happen with any type of lab testing, we'll set you up with a retest kit completely on us if this happens. Retest kits are always sent with the same collection and shipping method as your initial test and we'll always make sure your new sample gets same day priority processing, with results in your preferred email inbox by 8pm PST/11pm EST the day of delivery to the SneakPeek Lab.

We'll let you know in your sample update email when a retest kit is scheduled to ship. If you prefer not to retest, that's alright! Please just send us an "Inconclusive Refund" request email by 1pm PST/4pm EST the day of your shipment. If we aren't able to locate your order for the new package, we'll reach out to touch base with you for a shipment the next business day.

What is the maximum amount of time I should leave SneakPeek Snap on my arm if I’m not collecting enough blood?

We recommend a maximum time of 4 minutes. After that, feel free to send back your sample even if it hasn't filled to the bottom line. We're often able to provide results using smaller samples, and if not, we'll send you a free replacement device to try again.

What should I do if my blood test result differs from my ultrasound?
While the gender prediction blood test is designed for high accuracy, discrepancies can occasionally arise. If the blood test result differs from an ultrasound, it's recommended to consult with a healthcare provider. They can offer insights and may suggest further tests or checks to confirm the gender, ensuring peace of mind for expecting parents.
When can I use the SneakPeek test?

The SneakPeek test is accurate any time from 6 weeks into pregnancy to birth. SneakPeek looks for Y chromosomes in the fetal DNA found in mom's blood. When will I receive my results?
Samples are delivered to SneakPeek lab Monday through Saturday. You'll first receive an email confirming that we've received your sample at SneakPeek lab. If you used SneakPeek FastTrack, your results will be sent by 8:59 pm Pacific Time (11:59 pm Eastern Time) the same day your "Sample Arrived" email is received. If you used SneakPeek Standard, or purchased SneakPeek at a retail store, your results will be sent by 2:00 pm Pacific Time (5:00 pm Eastern Time) the day after receiving your "Sample Arrived" email.

Why is SneakPeek priced lower in stores vs. online?
With the additional $69 lab fee required for in-store purchases, it’s priced the same as on the SneakPeek website, which doesn’t charge a lab fee. 
Why would a sample result be inconclusive?
First, we assure you this doesn't mean anything is wrong! We may just need a second look. When we send an inconclusive sample update email, it's because our team wasn't able to pull enough total DNA from your first vial to tell. We always have two SneakPeek lab technicians process samples, so we'll only ask for a retest if we're 100% sure the first vial didn't yeild enough total DNA info to tell one way or the other.   Here are some reasons we may not have been able to pull enough total DNA to confirm a boy or girl result with the first try:
  • The sample may have clotted (some clotting is normal, though a bit of extra clotting throughout the vial may make it tricky for us to separate the DNA to analyze fully).
  • Our 30 day preservative solution may not have distributed enough to get into all of the nooks and crannies in your vial after closing the tube up and mixing (for any sample, the best way to mix after shutting the tube fully is by rotating the sample gently starting from all the way upside down to all the way right-side up ten times).
  • The sample may have had a slightly lower volume (If you collected a volume smaller than the 500μl we ask for, please still send this in! Most smaller samples are still successfully processed).
  • There may have been a very small amount of contamination during collection and we want a second peek for accuracy. Us having confidence in your result is just as important to us as it is to you!
  • By chance, your sample may have just not gotten to us with enough total DNA! This happens every once in awhile with a collection and a retest almost always does the trick.
If you do end up recollecting, please follow the same collection method, using the instructions included with your test. We're just as full of anticipation to let you know your result, so your new sample will be at the front of our processing queue the day it's delivered to us!  
Will tattoos affect my blood sample and results with SneakPeek Snap?

Based on research studies, tattoos have not been shown to affect blood sample results or the ability to successfully collect a blood sample with SneakPeek Snap. Using SneakPeek Snap will also not affect your tattoo!
